Please congratulate Wilsonville High School’s Premier A Cappella group, Soul’d Out.

Last Saturday, they successfully defended the title they won last year as the International Championship of High School A cappella winner of the western United States. Soul’d Out competed against six Oregon schools and a group from Wyoming. They will now be able to go back to New York in April and compete for the National High School A Cappella competition. Ethan Crystal won an individual honor for best musical arrangement and the entire group won best choreo for their entire set of music. The group will begin fundraising for the trip to New York. Please contact Sue Schreiner for fundraising information and to contribute!

Music and Arts Partners (MAP) invites every district family to donate $1 or more in support of district arts and music programs to benefit every child.  Every dollar makes a difference in keeping these programs a vibrant part of our children’s educational experience.   Celebrate National Music in Our Schools Month and National Youth Art Month by sending your contribution today.  Envelopes can be returned to your child’s school or mailed to 1378 Leigh Court, West Linn, OR 97068.  Please visit our website for more information at musicandartspartners.org.  Thank You!

Grammy Award winning, Chanticleer, the world’s top male a Capella chorus, will hold a workshop at 12:30pm, Wednesday, January 26 at the West Linn High School auditorium. This is an amazing opportunity to see this group. Parents are welcome to attend, and we encourage you to do so!

We received this very nice note from Jim Ackley at Bolton, and I have been meaning to share it with the community for some time now. Thanks, Jim – your kind words sustain us and remind us of the importance of what we do!

“On behalf of the students, staff and families of Bolton Primary, we would like to thank Music and Arts Partners for the beautiful new Yamaha piano. We were in really sad shape regarding pianos and this is a real blessing to the music department of our school.”
Sincerely,
Jim Ackley

Please Mark your calendars!  West Linn parent, Pam Pesetti, is opening a fun new store, Ego Accessories, in the Central Village Market Place on Hwy 43, and she has graciously offered to donate 15% of her grand opening sales on Sat, March 13th to Music and Arts Partners.  Please help us support her, as well as MAP, by getting the word out to your friends via email and word of mouth.  Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated and I hope you can all make it to the grand opening.

Wow! Is it March already? I know that Winter kinda gave us the brush-off this year, but it seems like yesterday that we were talking about Dollars for the Arts as a program in the far-off future.

Well, the future is here, and the envelopes are coming around…

To celebrate National Music in Our Schools Month and National Youth Art Month, Music and Arts Partners is holding our 12th annual “Dollars for the Arts” campaign. During the month of March, MAP invites every district family to donate $1.00 (or more) in support of fine arts and music programs.

This year, campaign donations will support our ongoing district-wide piano replacement program, distric strings programs and our annual student scholarship programs.

Be a Music and Arts Partner! Keep the arts strong in our schools!

Please send your contribution to the Dollars for the Arts Campaign, 1378 Leigh Ct. West Linn, OR 97068. For more information, please contact KC Bildner.

MAPlogoAs Publicity Director for Music and Arts Partners, I would like to wish you a happy New Year and welcome you to the new MAP blog.

It is my resolution for the New Year and the new decade to enhance the communications efforts of Music and Arts Partners – to better illustrate the value we provide to the community and improve our understanding – and the understanding of the larger community – to the state of music and arts education in the district. Connecting the dots will help us to become a stronger organization and provide more value for our kids.

Our new logo design (thanks to Chrissy Richards at Lightbox Graphic Design) and website both reflect the Board’s desire to better serve the community through our support of music and the arts, and I am proud and excited to have participated in their development. I am also enthusiastic about the features and functionality that we’ll be bringing online in the coming weeks and months.

What’s in store?

You can already see an events calendar in your sidebar. We would like this calendar to be the reference guide for all music and arts events taking place in the district. We are working with our teachers now to get all of their events into the calendar, then we’ll offer login access to them to allow them to post their own content on this website – including events into the calendar.

Faculty Grant Requests are moving online as well, with a secure online form available to make it faster and easier for our instructors to request funds and more efficient for the Executive Board to collaborate on making grants available.

In addition, this blog page will be available to the MAP Board, Representatives and interested arts and music faculty to share information and opinion.

But really, it isn’t about us – it’s about you. What would you like to see on the new MAP website? You can email me at joe@facetimepdx.com or leave a comment below to let us know!
