There are still tickets left! Please support your school by attending Music and Arts Partners’ Evening with Our Stars fund raising event on Sat, October 6th at the Oregon Golf Club. The evening starts with a silent auction, followed by dinner in the Pavilion tent and an amazing line-up of student entertainment from throughout the WLWV School District, interspersed with a small oral auction. Entertainment includes MAP Talent Show winners, the WLHS jazz choir and jazz band, Stafford Primary’s Calypso Kids, Rosemont Ridge’s Nuance Choir, show numbers from Wilsonville and West Linn HS drama programs, an original number by Art Tech HS students and Wilsonville High School’s Soul’d Out choir! Auction items range from theatre tickets and dinners out to amazing weekends away and art donated by teachers and local artists. In addition, many student volunteers are selling their services from dog washing and tutoring to lawn mowing and theme birthday party organizing!

Local schools have been amazing in encouraging their families to attend. We are trying to help the schools fill their second table for an opportunity to win a $500 grant plus the profits from the ticket sales themselves! Many schools need only a handful of tickets for their second table!  Please consider attending. Your ticket could be the final one your school needs!!

Tickets cost $50.00 ($24.00 is tax deductible) and can be purchased by clicking here, where you will also be able to name your school! It should be a great night of entertainment and auction fun at the Oregon Golf Club located at 25700 Southwest Petes Mountain Road West Linn, OR 97068.

Registration is now available for the Youth Music Project’s Summer Camps for our kids this Summer! The Youth Music Project is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established under the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation.  The Youth Music Project’s mission is to provide Rock, Country and Pop music instruction and instrument rentals to any child in the community regardless of his or her ability to pay.

The Youth Music Project is offering several cutting edge music camps during Summer 2012.  YMP’s camps provide students with the ultimate music camp experience by combining music training with age appropriate breakout sessions focusing on creating band art, digital recording, setting up p.a. systems, 3D video editing, screen printing, etc.  Students will be grouped according to age, musical ability, and instrument selection.

Space is extremely limited and camps are expected to sell out, so early registration is encouraged.

The following note was received from Diane Gauthier, art teacher at West Linn High School. Thank you for the kind words, Diane!

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, MAP, for all you do for us. The funds that MAP creates are invaluable. It helps to have such an advocacy group that values what we do in the classroom (and beyond).”

Please congratulate Wilsonville High School’s Premier A Cappella group, Soul’d Out.

Last Saturday, they successfully defended the title they won last year as the International Championship of High School A cappella winner of the western United States. Soul’d Out competed against six Oregon schools and a group from Wyoming. They will now be able to go back to New York in April and compete for the National High School A Cappella competition. Ethan Crystal won an individual honor for best musical arrangement and the entire group won best choreo for their entire set of music. The group will begin fundraising for the trip to New York. Please contact Sue Schreiner for fundraising information and to contribute!
